My name is Percival. I’m working as a Quality/Member Care Specialist in one of the world’s biggest contact centers. I graduated from college with a degree in Broadcast Communications but never got around to practicing what I’ve learned. Straight out of college, I became graphic artist – slash – copywriter for a small ad agency here in Manila. I worked there for four years before I shifted to outsourcing and being an all-around shock absorber on the phone for a living. Been in this industry for almost 4 years now. Progress is slow but tolerable. As for my previous work, it’s become more of a hobby now. You can visit some of my art samples by clicking here.
Welcome to my Playpen. Feel free to visit whenever you’re bored and want to bore yourself some more I make the rules here and I can say what I want or choose who I want to play with. I’m generally a nice and peaceful person with sporadic dark moods so if I offend your sensibilities go read something else or **** off in the dark, I don’t care.

Hi Percival..what does magnusatthva mean??
Hi Krutika!
It’s a word I just coined from two things: “Magnus,” a late Latin word which means “Great.” and “Satthva,” a Hindu philosophical term that means the qualities of purity, calmness, serenity, joy, strength and goodness.
So in a sense Magnusatthva can mean Great Strength, Great Calmness, Great Joy etc., but I personally equate it to the “Highest Good” whose latin translation is “Summum Bonum,” the motto of my Academic org back in college

Dear Percival,
I read with interest your participation in a number of quizzing events. I’m Singaporean and I love quizzing and I took part in quite a few quizzes while studying in the UK.
My main question in involving the World Quizzing Championships. I would love to take part in it again (I took part in the 2005 and 2006 editions). Unfortunately, Singapore isn’t one of the participating countries. Will it be held in the Philippines again this year? I would even consider flying to Manila to take part (I can always go for a holdiay in Boracay afterwards!).
Would be great if you could put me in touch with last year’s organizers or provide any other information!
Cheers,
Caleb
Hi Caleb,
Yes, I believe it will be held in the Philippines this year. No final date is given but it should be roughly around the same time as last year (1st week of June).
I don’t have direct contact with the organizers but I can refer you to one of my friends who serves as our quiz coordinator, he’s usually a step ahead in terms of events like these. His name is Richard and you can email him via richardpante@yahoo.com.
See you soon!:)
Hi there,
I’m also an avid quizzer. Can you tell me if there will be any inquizition coming up soon? you can email me at jasoncruz17@yahoo.com
Nice blog on quizzing. I hope to join the Philippine Leg of WQC this year.
Hi Jason,
Thanks for stopping by.
The last Inquizition happened a week ago. I myself have missed the last 2 or three sessions because of schedule conflicts but I’ll let you know when the next one will be. As for the WQC, I believe it’s gonna be June this year, but I’ll have to check with my colleagues first.
Hi Percival,
I’ve been a quizzer myself back in my college days in Adamson. I think I’ve met you once before at the audience gallery of Broadcast Studio in Capitol Hills. It was actually a taping of an episode in the Battle of the Brains. I was not a contestant that time. I joined in 1999 though and reached the quarter-finals where I lost to the eventual champion from UP Diliman.
If you happen to know another Battle of the Brains contestant from Adamson – Jose De Jesus, he’s my buddy in the quiz bee circles in our school.
Im glad to learn that quizzing activities in the country is very much alive even outside of schools.
Regards anyway.
Hi Erwin,
Yes you’re right. The Quiz subculture here in the Philippines is very much alive and kicking even though Battle of the Brains is just an afterthought for most of us who have been there before. Rigid review regimens and books have since been replaced by casual get-togethers over beer and sisig.
Thanks for dropping by. It’s always a pleasure to meet a fellow enthusiast every once in a while.
Cheers!
