PART 2 of GLOBE TELECOM: the thievery continues…

I went to the National Telecommunications Communication website recently to file a complaint after yet another disgusting round of load deductions from Globe. Here’s my complaint letter to wit:

“Here are my complaints about this thieving, unethical and inefficient company:

A) Globe, via 2346 and 2350, has been sending me notices for contests which automatically deduct 2.50 per text message. They do it at least once a day. I NEVER solicited these messages and yet they’re deducting it from my load WITHOUT my consent.

B) They are sending me multimedia ringtones which again I did NOT solicit. This deducts PhP 30.00 per ringtone from my load. They usually send 2 ringtones at a time so if I load 20 pesos (which before lasts for about a week), I will end up not only losing my load within a few hours (or minutes) of loading, I will also end up being debited on my next prepaid load. Their service has become practically unusable because of this vicious cycle which has been going on for about a month now. The more you load, the more text messages they’ll be sending to make sure you won’t have a single centavo left.

C) No amount of texting “STOP” will make them stop sending you these ringtones and paid ads. Imagine being deducted PhP 2.50 everytime you tell them to STOP debiting your load from service you NEVER requested in the first place. What’s worse, my phone DOESN’T support the mp3 formats they’re sending so they’re just wasting my hard earned money.

D) No amount of calls to their “HELP” line (what an irony!) would make them stop sending me those unwarranted, unwanted, unsolicited load-guzzling text messages. Their CSRs are polite but useless. They can’t do anything. They keep on telling us to call back if nothing happens. I’ve been doing that almost every other day for a month now, to no avail. 2346’s helpline which is 892-9999 doesn’t work as well. Everytime I tried to call this damned number it’s either busy or no one’s answering. So far 2346 has stopped sending me those messages as of today but 2350 took its place and it’s even worse. This time I did not receive any ringtones but my 48 peso load became 2 pesos after a flurry of text messages from 2350.

E) I tried disabling and deleting my internet and multimedia configuration from the phone hoping they would stop sending those ringtones. They STOPPED sending the ringtones but they DID NOT STOP billing me for it.

F) Their toll free helpline (211) which should be available on my phone, even when I’m out of load, has stopped working since August 19, 2008. I keep on getting a message that my “balance is not enough” to make the call. 211 is supposed to be FREE. Why are they doing this? Are they tired of the same old complaint? Why won’t they fix the issue instead of muzzling people or taking away their right to complain?

I’m a disgusted consumer. Their unfair trade practices smacks of wanton thievery and malicious intent. So far they are THE worst service I’ve ever had. At first I thought Globe was good since my 20 peso load can last me a week or two since I seldom text or call. That has since changed and my wasted hundreds, if not thousands of pesos is nothing compared to the aggravation I have to endure for feeling shortchanged and deceived by Globe Telecom.”

You can say I’m just overreacting but for someone who doesn’t earn much, the disillusionment this experience gave me is beyond words. I would’ve gladly switched but after bad experiences with Smart and Sun Cellular I have nowhere else to go. Besides, my pending job applications, online resumes and countless other legal whatchamacallits bear my Globe number so replacing it right then and there is out of the question. Which all the more explains why this “inconvenience” has magnified my disgust a hundredfold.

The relationship between businesses and their consumers is based on TRUST. Trust that you get fair service for a fair amount. That is one sacred thing that Globe has violated repeatedly. Let me make it clear that I’m not against Globe’s employees. I’m against their company’s unfair trade practices and anti-consumer gimmicks that virtually defraud consumers like me of thousands if not millions of pesos on a daily basis. 2346 and 2350 are two faces of a scam that they willfully perpetrate and they should stop this before every other consumer becomes a victim and ultimately lose their trust.

I’m not asking for the moon and the stars. I just want this scam stopped, period. I’m not even asking for a refund.

I hope to get a reply from NTC soon. I’ll keep you guys posted.

    I’ve had some problems with Smart prepaid before but not as irritating as this one. If Globe doesn’t stop stealing my load then I just might sign up for a postpaid plan with you guys.

    this happened to me too.. i loaded 300 peso load coz i was able to save up.. to my dismay.. pag gising ko sa umaga naging 240 nalang xa.. i did not even subscribe to any available subscription or whatever.. na shock talaga ako.. di nga ako nag text pag agbi or call lang.. next day.. pag gising ko naging 109.64.. ewan ko kung bakit. di naman ako nag call .. i just texted 4 times.. i had 35 free textx so naging 31 nalang.. pero pag gising ko naman kania. naging 19 pesos nalang.. tapos may nag txt ng 2346 about toptruerock, toptruehip at toptruesikat. i never had a time to subscribe with these tones kasi in the first place di ko gusto magbayad ng kahit ilang pesos just for the tones.. noon 30 pesos ko last like ilang weeeks pa.. pero ngaun lang 300 ko di pa umabot 1 week.,

    I am also a victim of this CP 2346. I swapped my postpaid sim with my mom’s prepaid sim bec. she does church work so needs to use the celphone. I loaded the prepaid with P300 call card. A week later, P1.50 na lang balance. WTF. Everyday I get messages from 2346. It does not have information on how to OP-OUT from this service.

    I texted “PTS STOP”. It replied that I will be unsubscribed within 24 hours. After 2 days, I get another subscription text from them. Tsk tsk. I worked for a CP before, and NTC requires that OPT-OUT information be included in the regular subscription text message. So the user knows how to unsubscribe from the damn thing.

    However when buying Globe’s prepaid sim, somewhere in the simpack’s service agreement, there’s several clauses about allowing Globe to send you alerts and whatnot.

    PURE EVIL.

    I am a victim of this GLOBE scam too. I try not to open the messages from GLOBE 2346 – and just delete them. But today, in my haste, I accidentally opened one. I have just loaded 300 and made maybe 3 text messages, and now I was in fact deducted 30 for it. Last night, they kept on sending messages and I kept on deleting them, but they would NOT STOP. They sent maybe 6 messages in succession because I’m not opening any one of them. What a THIEF and UNETHICAL company GLOBE is. I’m so disgusted by your practices.

    ako rin po nabiktima ng kagarapalan ng globe…

    1st week: Nagload po ako ng 60php, then bigla nalang naging 24php..tapos 0.50php nalang po,,,3 times lang po ako nagtext….pinabayaan ko lang po…

    2nd week: nagload po ako ng 300php, tapos bigla lang po ako pinadalan ng mp3 ring tone from 3456, chinarge ako ng 15php for that. di naman ako ng subsribe sa 3456 para marecieve ung cheap na ringtone na yon…lalo po ako nagalit nung pinatugtog ko ung ringtone, daig pa ang sirang plaka n di ko naman po alam ung kanta,,,kainis talaga. I called 211 nagreklamo ako, then after 3 days binalik ung 15php ko,,,the csr instructed me step by step pano stop un,,,so un nagtxt ako to stop it….kala ko ok na…

    3rd week: nagpadala nanaman ang 3456 ng magandang ringtone nila na pangworld class (hehehe), chinarge nanaman ako ng 15php. Tumawag nanaman ako,,,kinausap ko ang csr, hay di ako maiintindihan, kinausap ko ang walng h***a manager nila na bastos, halatang sanay makipagaway,,,lalo akong naiinis nung pamukha sa akin na ako nagsubscribe dun…ang kapal talaga,,,sabi ko pakita nila ung txt na nagsubscribe ako….ang kapal talaga…bastos na bastos ako mga bro and sis,,basang sisiw ako at dat time, di ko na kinaya, nanlambot ako, i hunged up…

    mga bro and sis…garpal ang globe ngayon…..

    Everytime na nagload ako ay kasabay magsend sa akin ang 2346 nga kahit ano hanggang nauubos ang load. First load ako Php15.00 tapos bigla na lang nawala after receiving a message from 2346 na hindi naman ako nagsubscribe. The second time na nagload ako sa globe Php15.00 same pa rin nangyayari bigla na lang nawala. Ngayon ay nagload ako ng Php50.00 gagamitin ko sana kasi may tatawagan ako aba ang daming message na-receive ko galing sa 2346 hanggang naubos ang Php50.00 load ko. Grabe naman. Pag ubos na load mo wala ng message from 2346 pero pag may load ka lahat ng message galing sa 2346 papasok sayo hanggang wala na ang load. Hays. Tulong naman grabe na to.

    Wow! look at the first publication of this article it was August 21, 2008… to day Is October 24, 2009… Its more than a year… But nothing has change this Globe 2346 scam is still here… I transferred to smart and sun for a couple of months.. but I again used my old Globe Sim… And nothing still has changed… Right out of the bat.. I loaded 100 php… subscribed to unlitxt80 so I should have 20 spare load credits.. but to my dismay they were gone… in just a matter of minutes.. only to find out that this 2346 scam is still there… now is my third time to load and everytime I load 30 or 100 this 2346 is like a shark.. it knows where the food is.. it will automatically just steal your load credits… Somebody has got to do something about it… I think Juan Ponce Enrile was a victim of it, he even said it is a form of thievery. I just never heard of it again in the news.. But maybe boycotting globe is a nice alternative too..

    Kailangan ko daw bayaran yung 7,000 pesos ng GPRS ko. Magnanakaw talaga, sabi sa ad nila 5 pesos per 15 minutes yung maginternet using your cellphone. Tapos sisingilin nila ko ng per kilobyte? !@#$%^ Ni hindi ko nga nabuksan ang youtube sa bagal ng connection. Imagine, I can avail unlimited internet for 999 ONLY for a month sa PLDT. sa globe 7,000 pesos for a TRY. !@#

    i have been a loyal globe subscriber for more than 10 years. recently i learned from a friend, another globe subscriber that she got free phones from globe. she was a new subscriber and she got 2 phones. it turned out that every 2 years u r entitled to get free fons. i ddnt know about this so we called the globe hotlines, i asked if i can get i high end phone to compensate all the years that ive been loyal to their company. but after several calls i made and endless waiting for a reply, i finally got a call from them a week after saying that i am only entitled to get a nokia 2730 wth a cash out pa of 700 pesos!. so what happened to the more than 10 years of being a loyal subscriber?

    globe sends out globe updates and promos tru text messaging. theyve been soo into sending repeated messages that it is sometimes annoying already. why werent they as into sending messages saying that u are entitled to a free fon??? 10 years and all am entitled to is a cheap fon!!! that i think is no fair at all. is that how they compensate a loyal subscriber? when i told them that im thinking of terminating my subscription wth them, the agent i was talking to non chalantly said” its up to you sir.”

    i get drop calls from globe that billed me as if the conversations went on and on. hidden charges and fon calls charged to me that i cudnt recognize. in all the ten years of being a loyal subscriber and all the headaches, what did i get?? i asked d agent…”sir u got a 200 pesos rebate last august po”

    globe sucks!!!!! i am seriously considering terminating my subscription, even if ive had this number for more than 10 years altready! and so with my moms globe phone, my sisters and nieces which i am all paying for! i dont think GLOBE was a SMART choice!!!!!! it woul;dnt be any SMARTER if i go on with my subscription with them. if GLOBE treats loyal subscriber the way they treated me, whats the point staying loyal wth them????? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! this time il be SMARTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! il move to SMART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I agree. This is a very unfair marketing strategy of globe. Specially for the loyal customers. I’m already thinking to buy new sim card and leave the globe number without a load and just act as dummy. I’ll just use it to receive a text or call from other globe subscribers but I will never load it anymore. It also happens to my mom.

  36. Globe has charged me P 2,400 plus last month for alleged internet usage on my cellphone, which I did not use. After appealing to them, they waived the charges. This month they charged me again, for this month’s alleged usage, but I still haven’t used the Internet on my cellphone. Now they are insisting that I pay. I can prove that I didn’t use the Internet on my cellphone, but they won’t listen. This is unfair! I’m not the only one who has been having this problem.

    The answer is simple. Get serious. Petition the government to Nationalize all Globe property for Fraud against the Philippine people and Remove all upper management. Those are the real thieves. Greedy, self-centered disgusting sub humans who think nothing of ripping off an entire country. force them to “Show you the money”. My bet it leads right back to Globe management.

    Bwisit nga iyan 2346 na iyan! dahil jan napag-bintangan ko pa tuloy ang sister ko na nagpapasa ng load sa number niya. hay same case din sa husband ko naaubos ang load niya ng di niya alam. at ito pa! isa pa iyan globe tracker na iyan. muntik na maging cause ng hiwalayan namin yan! inaccurate, within 2 kilometers daw, eh hindi naman pala. isipin mo nasa las pinas yun tao at kapag na-track mo na ang lalabas nasa paranaque. weird!

    globe theft is back!!!!!!!! nagregister ako to supersurf50 para magmobile internet. i received a message saying “u r now registered to unlimited surfing…blah…blah..blah….” when i started surfing, i cannot open any browser. I checked my connection status and i received a text message na “You are not subscribed to supersurf…..blah…blah..blah….” Grabeng pagnanakaw yan….

    I also loaded my prepaid sim with 100 autoloadmax. Right after I received the confirmation message, 33 pesos na lang ang load ko…..it happened to me 3 times in just 1 week. so I called the globe customer hotline and they traced all my transactions. The customer service representative admitted that there are records that I have loaded three times but there are no special transactions that would make my load disappear. She said, they will be returning those loads after a week. After exactly 1 week, I received a text message saying that I did not load any amount during the days that I complained…..super magnanakaw talaga ang globe…..

    I am also a globe postpaid subscriber. Sa first bill ko pa lang, ninakawan na nila ako ng 599 pesos. when you apply for a post paid account, you have to drop a 1 month deposit for your subscription. When I received my 1st bill, sobrang laki kaagad. i called the customer service and sabi nila wala daw akong dineposit na money for the 1st month ko……..then, ung mga calls ko to globe and TM ay may charge din……which is supposed to be unlicall and text to globe and tm subscribers ung kinuha ko…..magnanakaw! magnanakaw! magnanakaw ang globe!..akala ko inayos na nila ang sistema nung nagreklamo si senator enrile…..pero totoo nga!!!!
